A Day in the Life of SeaGrown's Science Technician

Ever wondered what it takes to cultivate seaweed for a healthier ocean? Today, we're diving into a day with Imogen, our incredible Science Technician!

The morning might find Imogen in the lab, carefully tending to kelp spores – tiny beginnings with the potential to grow into magnificent underwater forests. She meticulously ensures these future ocean giants have the perfect conditions to thrive.

But Imogen's "office" isn't confined to four walls. She's often out on the water, exploring the vibrant ecosystem around our offshore site. Armed with binoculars and a keen eye, she conducts bird and invertebrate surveys, meticulously documenting the biodiversity that calls our cultivation sites home.

Back on dry land, Imogen analyses the data she's collected, piecing together the intricate puzzle of our coastal environment. She delves into water samples, measuring everything from light penetration to temperature, and reviews underwater camera footage to assess the growth and health of our kelp.

"It's like being a detective," says Imogen. "We're constantly gathering clues and building a picture of how our seaweed cultivation is impacting the marine environment. It's incredibly rewarding to see the positive changes we're making."

Imogen's work is a vital part of SeaGrown's mission. Her dedication to scientific exploration and discovery helps us understand and protect the precious ecosystems we work with. She's a true champion for the ocean, and we're so lucky to have her on our team!
